It’s the Laurel Museum’s 25th anniversary!
Our work has never been more important!
I am very proud to announce that on June 26, we reopened our museum doors after 15 months of closure due to the global pandemic. COVID forced us to find creative new ways - from webinars to virtual tours - to explore and share Laurel’s history and culture with our local and online community. Because of your support and participation, we have been able to successfully weather the storm thus far.
It’s because of donors like you that we wowed audiences with our virtual “Collection Conversations,” connecting hundreds of participants to the personal stories of Laurel’s African American history, Jewish-American heritage, and women’s legacies. But we still need your help.
Your gift also helps us to document and preserve the stories of Laurel families, such as one of our most exciting new projects: working together with the students at Pallotti High School through real-life archaeological excavations, to uncover what life was like for tenants living along Ninth Street over the past 130 years.
Moving into 2022, we are more committed than ever to finding the best ways to explore our community, and share its past, present, and future. As we return to onsite programs, we will also be maintaining our very popular virtual offerings and expanding new initiatives. More than ever, as COVID-related grants and relief funds disappear, we need your help to make our history and cultural heritage accessible to everyone!
Since opening our doors in 1996, the Laurel Museum has been dedicated to preserving and promoting the understanding of Laurel’s history. A milestone anniversary is a time to reflect on our past and present and examine where we are going in the future. Your donations ensure that we are able to keep our programs and exhibits free, relevant, and accessible to adults and children of all abilities and backgrounds.
But we can’t do it alone.
Your gift will help the Laurel Historical Society continue to serve our community through the days ahead with outstanding programs, unique resources, and fantastic experiences. If you can, won’t you give $25 (or more!) for 25 years of the Laurel Museum?
YOU can help us preserve Laurel’s past for the future! Please demonstrate your commitment to the work of the Laurel Historical Society by giving to the Annual Appeal today. Use the enclosed envelope to send your best gift before December 31st.
Thank you for your past support and for being a Friend of the Society!
