2002 Avondale Mill, 1845-1991
Laurel’s historic Avondale Mill was built around 1845 by a company owned by Horace Capron and other Laurel business leaders. It was later called Crabb’s Mill. Water-powered, the mill operated as a flour mill, and at one time as a lace factory. Tragically, the Mill burned in 1991. Until then it was the oldest mill building in Prince George’s County.
